Terms of Service
Effective: May 12, 2026
The short version
Manifest is a private space to share goals with people you trust. These terms keep it that way.
- Be kind. Don't use Manifest to harass, harm, or deceive others.
- Your content is yours. We just need permission to display it to the people you share it with.
- Manifest is in alpha. Things may break. We'll do our best to make it work.
- We may send you SMS for phone verification, 2FA codes, and invites you send through the app. Reply STOP to opt out.
- You can stop using Manifest anytime, and we can stop you from using Manifest if you break these rules.

1. The agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and Manifest ("we," "us," "our"). They cover your use of the Manifest app, website, and any related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using Manifest, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in some regions) to use Manifest. If you're using Manifest on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to do so on its behalf.
3. Your account
When you sign up, you agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You're responsible for what happens on your account, so please keep your password safe. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, contact us right away.
4. Your content
You own everything you share on Manifest: your goals, updates, notes, messages, and files (together, "Your Content").
To run the Service, you give us a limited license to store, display, and transmit Your Content only to the people you've chosen to share it with. We don't use Your Content for advertising, and we don't sell it. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account.
You're responsible for what you share. Don't share content you don't have the right to share, content that's illegal, or content that violates someone else's rights.
5. Acceptable use
Keep Manifest a good place. Don't:
- Harass, threaten, bully, or intimidate other users.
- Post unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, or violent content.
- Impersonate anyone or misrepresent your identity or relationship.
- Spam or send unwanted marketing messages through the Service.
- Try to break, probe, or reverse-engineer the Service.
- Scrape, crawl, or automate the Service without written permission.
- Use the Service to distribute malware or interfere with its operation.
- Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Abuse the invite feature, including sending invites to phone numbers you don't have permission to contact.
If you see something that violates these rules, please let us know.
6. Text messages
We use SMS (text messaging) for a limited set of purposes only: verifying your phone number, two-factor authentication codes, and invite messages to people you invite to Manifest. We do not send marketing texts. We do not sell phone numbers, and we share them only with our messaging provider, Twilio, who delivers messages on our behalf.
Phone number verification and 2FA
When you sign up, change your number, or sign in with two-factor authentication, we'll send you a one-time code. By providing a phone number to Manifest, you consent to receive these messages.
Invite messages
When you invite someone to Manifest by phone number, we send that person one message identifying you as the inviter (for example, "[Your Name] invited you to join Manifest"). By using the invite feature, you confirm that:
- the phone number is real and belongs to the person you intended to invite,
- you have the person's permission to send them an invitation from Manifest, and
- you understand that the message will identify you by name.
If the person you invite doesn't want to hear from us again, they can reply STOP and we'll stop messaging them. We do not send marketing or follow-up messages to invited people. If they don't join Manifest within 30 days, we delete their phone number from our invite records.
To prevent abuse, members are limited to 50 invite messages in any 24-hour period.
Standard SMS practices
SMS is currently available for US phone numbers only. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier. Message frequency varies based on your activity: verification and 2FA codes are sent on request; invites only when you initiate them. Reply STOP at any time to opt out of further messages from Manifest. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at privacy@manifest-app.org for assistance with our text messages. Carriers are not liable for any delayed or undelivered messages. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your phone number.
Our messaging provider
We use Twilio to deliver text messages. Twilio handles message delivery and acts as a service provider to Manifest. Their handling of phone numbers is governed by their terms and privacy policy.
7. Alpha status
Manifest is currently in alpha. That means the Service is still being built, tested, and improved. Features may change, break, or disappear. Data may occasionally be lost. By using the alpha, you acknowledge these risks and agree to give us feedback when things don't work as expected.
8. Ending the agreement
You can delete your account at any time through the app. When you do, we'll remove your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
We can suspend or terminate your access if you break these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if we need to protect the Service or other users. Where possible, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to fix the issue first.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
Manifest is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. We especially make no such promises during the alpha period.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Manifest (and its team, investors, and service providers) is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability in any case will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (which, for most alpha users, is zero).
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as Manifest grows. If changes are material, we'll let you know by email or through the app before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless local consumer-protection laws require otherwise.
